말레이시아 외교정책결정 요인 분석

The purpose of this study underlines that what kind of aspects affect the determination of foreign policy in Malaysia. To examine this purpose, I have scrutinized three aspects, which are assumed to influence foreign policy, national interest, international system and the features of political system and personality of the leader. First of all, Malaysian foreign policy has been hinged on the concept of national interest. In fact, the main principle of foreign policy underlines the realization of each states vital interests so that the case of Malaysian is not exceptional. Second, the Malaysian foreign policy has also been affected by the change of international system such as the period of cold war, the period of détente and the period of post cold war. The reason why this affection has been possible is that Malaysia is not the super power state but only middle range state. Third, the Malaysian foreign policy has greatly been involved by the characters of political system and its leader. The case of the Raman government has been testified as one of the case studies for this purpose.
