한국에서의 아랍지역연구의 동향과 과제

The paper outlines several characteristics about the Korean educational and research system in the field of Arab studies, and then it examines what the recent trend in the Korean academic community indicates. These aims are reviewed in the context of the identity of 'Arab Area Studies' or 'Arabiology' in Korea. From the result, it will be tried to find what solution is for creating a suitable methodology of Arab studies and then how to develop or foster Arab studies as 'Area Studies' or 'Areaology (Area Sciences)'. It also suggests that the area limit and scope of Arab studies and considers harmonious relations among the several area other possible studies, such as the Middle East studies, Islamic Studies, Iran and Turkish Studies, and so on. In order to attain these aims, the paper analyses the present publications (for commercial selling) of the scholars who are working as college level teachers.
