The Central Asian States, Kazahstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Kirgiztan, Tadzhikstan newly created by the breakdown of Soviet Union, currently face the challenges of state-building. People in the Central Asian Countries are predominantly islamic in terms of religion and speak variants of Turkish language. Recently, the Great Game in the late nineteen century surrounding the Caspian Sea Rim Countries is being rekindled by the international power politics originating from rich endowments of petroleum and natural gas. This paper looks at the international and domestic politico-economic effects of petroleum and natural gas endowments in Kazahstan and Uzbekistan.
