서양 근대 문화 속에 있는 정신분석적 함의

Psychoanalytic Implications in Western Modern Culture - Focusing on Freud and Lacan Theory -

본 연구는 서양 근대 문화 속에 함의되어 있는 정신분석적 의미를 천착함으로써서양 근대 문화를 다양하고 깊이 있게 이해하려는 것이다. 서양 근대 문화에는 여러현상이 새롭게 등장했는데, 이러한 현상을 정신분석학적 관점, 특히 강박증과 히스테리의 시각에서 알아보고자 하는 것이다. 즉, 정치에서 절대주의는 권력의 중앙집권화를 통한 왕의 질서 유지, 과학에서 미적분과 시․공간의 좌표화, 그리고 미술에서 원근법을 통한 공간의 장악은 이 시기에 나타난 현상들이다. 이 시기의 강박증을 ‘질서추구(유지)’라는 의미로 규정한다면, 정치영역에서 왕의 절대주의에 저항한 귀족들의반란, 미술에서 마네의 <올랭피아>가 당시 미술의 규범이었던 신고전주의의 모든 원칙을 위협한 것, 그리고 피카소의 <아비뇽의 처녀들>이 400년 넘게 서구 미술이 추구해온 원근법적 질서를 완전히 흔들어 놓은 것은 ‘질서 붕괴’(해체)를 의미하는 것으로, 이는 정신분석학적 측면에서 히스테리 현상으로 이해할 수 있다.

The purpose of this study is to understand Western modern culture in various ways and in depth by looking into the psychoanalytic meaning implied in Western modern culture. A number of new phenomena have appeared in Western modern culture, and I want to investigate these phenomena from a psychoanalytic point of view, especially from the perspective of obsessive compulsive disorder and hysteria. In other words, in politics, absolutism maintains the order of the king through centralization of power, calculus and coordinates of time and space in science, and seizing space through perspective in art are phenomena that appeared during this period. If the obsessive compulsive disorder of this period is defined as ‘seeking order (maintaining)’, the revolt of the nobles who resisted the absolutism of the king in the political realm, and Manet’s <Olympia> in art threatened all the principles of neoclassicism, which was the norm of art at the time. The fact that Picasso’s <The Maids of Avignon> completely shaken the perspective order pursued by Western art for over 400 years signifies ‘disintegration of order’, which is a hysterical phenomenon in psychoanalysis.
