An Analysis on the Impact of Agro-photovoltaics Power Plants on the Amenity Value of Agricultural Landscapes

This study examines the consumers’ perception of agricultural landscapes and the agrophotovoltaics power projects, and analyzes the impact of agrophotovoltaics plants on the amenity values of agricultural landscapes. A choice experiment analysis shows that the marginal-willingness-to-pay for ‘agricultural landscape view’ is 75,882 won higher compared to ‘agrophotovoltaics power panel view’. This implies the decreased value of agricultural landscape when solar panel is installed on the farmland. If the agrophotovoltaics power plants is expanded to farmland nationwide, the value of agricultural landscape is estimated to decrease by 1.9 trillion won in total.
