본 논문은 통일교육의 목표와 원칙에 관한 내용이다. 통일교육의 목표와 원칙을 고찰 및 분석하기 위해 우선 전제적 기본인식으로 통일의의미에 대한 인식, 북한에 대한 인식 그리고 세계사의 흐름에 대한 인식내용을 다루었다. 이를 기초로 하여 통일교육의 목표와 원칙에 대해구체적으로 설명하였다. 통일교육의 목표로서 필자는 우선 통일의 기반구축이라는 목표를 제시하였다. 통일의 기반구축은 통일교육의 주채적인 활동의 대표적인 경우이다. 다음으로 통일교육은 분단현실을 제대로파악하고 전달할 수 있는 목표를 지향해야 할 것이다. 분단현실의 구조적인 면을 제대로 이해하지 못한 채 어떻게 올바른 통일교육이 될 수있겠는가? 이러한 점에 초점을 맞추어 한반도분단체제의 현실과 구조에 대한 목표성을 제시하였다, 마지막으로 보편적 가치에 입각한 통일철학의 내면화라는 목표를 제시하였다. 통일교육은 결코 감상적이고 낙관적인 대북인식과 태도로써 행해져서는 안 되는 교육분야이다. 그렇기때문에 보편적 가치에 대한 확고부동한 신념체계에 의해 수행되어져야할 교육분야라고 하겠다. 이러한 통일교육의 목표를 가지고 제반 원칙을 제시하였는데, 첫째, 대한민국의 정체성의 확보라는 원칙 둘째, 남북화해지상주의에서 벗어나 우리 체제의 근간의 틀 속에서 수행이라는원칙 셋째, 감상주의에서 벗어나 보편적 가치에 의한 원칙을 제시했다.
This study is the content of the goal and principle of unification education. I have analysed the meaning of unification, recognition of North Korea and recognition of the stream of the world’s history. On this basis, I have explained the goal and principle of unification education. As the goal of unification, I suggested the goal the establishment of the unification base. The establishment of the unification base is the representative case of the independent activity in the unification education. Next, the unification education must aim at the goal passing on to understand the structure of the division’s reality. A right unification education is not valid without the understanding of the structure of the division’s reality. On this point, I suggested the goal’s character of the structure and reality of the Korean Peninsular division's system. Finally, I proposed the goal of the unification philosophy’s internalization on the basis of universal value. The unification education can’t do with the emotional recognition and attitude. On this goals of unification education, I suggested the various principles of unification education. It is as follows; First, the principle of the national identity’s securement. Second, the principle of universal value etc.
