The Importance and Suitability of The 2015 Basic Curriculum for Special Education Social Studies Achievement Standards

연구목적: 이 연구는 2015 개정 특수교육 기본 교육과정 사회과의 중요도와 적합도에 대한 인식을 조사하여 사회과 기본 교육과정의 성취기준의 적절성을 알아보고자 하였다. 연구방법: 이를 위하여 지적장애 특수학교를 대상으로 중·고등학교 과정에서 사회 교과를 가르친 경험이 있는 특수교사를 대상으로 설문 조사를 실시하였다. 연구결과: 그 결과 영역별 성취기준의 중요도와 적합도를 분석한 결과, ‘자율성’이 가장 중요하며 적합하다고 인식하고 있었다. 가장 적합하지 않은 영역은 ‘시민의 삶’으로 나타났다. 전반적으로 중요도에 비해 적합도가 낮은 것으로 나타났다. 특히 ‘민주주의의 가치’에서 대부분의 성취기준이 적합도가 낮아 기본 교육과정 주요 대상인 중도장애학생에게 지도하기 어려운 영역임을 알 수 있었다. 결론: 특수교사들은 기본 교육과정 사회과는 사회과 교육의 본질인 민주시민 양성도 중요하지만, 발달장애 학생들의 직접적인 일상생활의 질 개선에 초점을 두어야 함을 알 수 있었다.

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to find out the importance and suitability of achievement standards in the 2015 Basic Curriculum Social Studies to see if it is appropriate for middle and high school students with developmental disabilities in special schools. Method: In order to investigate the perception of secondary special teachers on the appropriateness of the 2015 Basic Curriculum Social Studies, a survey were conducted on 120 secondary special teachers with intellectual disabilities. Results: First, looking at the importance of the 2015 Basic Curriculum Social Studies Achievement Standards, teachers ecognized the importance in the order of ‘my life’, ‘relational life’, and ‘citizen’s life’ by sub-area. Second, looking at the suitability of the basic curriculum social studies achievement standards, teachers recognized suitability in the order of ‘my life’, ‘relational life’, and ‘citizen’s life’ by sub-area. Third, looking at the difference between the importance and fit of the social achievement standards of the basic curriculum, there were significant differences in five core concepts: “autonomy,” “social and moral personality,” “social ability,” and “space and life.” Teachers perceived the achievement standards as important as the content of social studies necessary for students’ adaptation to their current and future life, but perceived that the difficulty of the content was not suitable for the student level. Conclusion: Special teachers have shown that the basic curriculum social studies is also important for the nurture of democratic citizens, which is the essence of socal studies, but the focus should be on improving the quality of the daily lives of students with developmental disabilities.
