1990년대 이후 대만에서 중국연구의 현지화 및 연구방법에 대한 논점(論點)

The Localization of China Studies and Issues on Research Methods in Taiwan since '90s

한국의 중국연구는 주로 미국, 유럽, 일본, 중국 및 대만 등 국가의 학술적 영향을 받으며 발전해왔다. 그중 대만의 중국연구 경험도 한국의 연구자들에게 많은 영향을 미쳤으며 적지 않은 연구결과와 성과를 제시하였다. 어느 시기에는 대만유학파도 한국의 중국연구에서 중요한 자리를 차지하기도 했다. 본 논문은 대만에서 중국연구의 정의, 명칭 및 그 역사 과정을 살펴보고, 1990년대 이후 중국연구의 현지화 및 연구방법의 논점을 연구목적으로 삼는다. 국가적으로나 사회적으로 한국과 다른 환경에 처한 대만의 중국연구는 다른 인식론과 목적성을 갖고 출발했다. 특히 1990년대 이후 국내·외 변화로 인해 대만은 중국연구의 시각이 다른 국가 연구로 전환하였으며, 대만의 장점을 찾아 대만특색의 중국연구를 구축하기 위해 새로운 방향을 모색하기 시작했다. 그 과정에서 중국연구의 정체성이 변하고 탈서구화 경향도 나타났으며 연구방법에 대한 다양한 논쟁도 진행되었다. 주요 논점으로 지역연구와 분과학문 간의 관계, 내부자적 시각, 중국중심주의, 감정이입법, 질적 연구, 현장경험, 미시적 연구, 학술연구와 정책연구 능력 겸비 등이 있다. 그러나 대만의 중국연구는 탈서구화를 외치면서 학문적 탈식민주의 연구경향을 벗어나야 한다고 강조하였지만, 결과적으로 그러한 논리방식도 미국의 인문·사회과학의 영향을 받았으며 미국의 학문적 성과에 대한 반응적 경향을 보였다.

Korea's China Studies has been developing mainly under the academic influence of the U.S., Japan, China, and Taiwan, etc. Among them, Taiwanese study experiences had a great influence on the Korean researchers by presenting not a few research results and fruitful outcomes. In some periods, researchers who had studied in Taiwan used to play main roles in China Studies in Korea. This thesis reviews the history and status of the Taiwan's Studies related to China. And it analyzes the trend of Taiwan's China Studies by focusing on the points at issues that have emerged from the developing procedure. Especially, the purpose of this study mainly lays in the identity change of China studies and the debate of research method. Since Taiwan's national and social environment is differ from Korea, it started its China Studies with different epistemology and finality. Accordingly, this study tries to provide different point of view for the improvement of Korea's China Studies through the analysis of the Taiwan's China Studies.
