A Study on the Precepts of Reason and Desire: Focusing on Ethica

본 연구는 스피노자를 중심으로, 욕망과 이성 간의 관계를 다루고 있다. 이는 이성적 판단으로 욕망을 능동적 삶을 위한 방향으로 전환할 수 있음을 보여주는 것이다. 스피노자의 철학을 이성 중심주의에서 벗어나, 감정이 발생하는 구체적 상황에서 그의 윤리학을 재정의하고자 한다. 이는 신과 같은 자기-활동 혹은 자기 원인의 주체로서, 개별 인간이 그 삶에서 경험된 코나투스 또는 욕망이 드러나는 것이다. 아울러 욕망이 능동적 이성에 의해 보편적 욕망으로 전환될 수 있음을 살펴보고자 한다. 스피노자의 윤리학이 욕망의 보편화 가능성과 이를 통한 인간의 발전, 즉 완전한 인간성의 가능성을 보여주는 것이다. 코나투스는 인간 활동의 본질을 표현하는데, 자기 삶의 전망을 그리는 모든 인간 활동은 코나투스를 통해 표현되는 것이다. 코나투스에 적합한 인식을 함으로써 능동적 삶인 자율적 인간형을 제시하고 있는 것이 바로 스피노자의 윤리학이라고 본다. 마지막으로, 코나투스는 신과 인간의 자기 원인에 근거한 활동의 연결점이라는 점을 살펴보면서, 스피노자의 윤리학이 욕망에 대한 교육을 통해 전 인류가 영원의 상을 지향할 수 있는 길을 보여주고 있음을 밝히고자 한다.

This study deals with the relationship between desire and reason, focusing on Spinoza. This shows that desire can be converted into a direction for active life through rational judgment. Spinoza's philosophy is to break away from rationalism and redefine his ethics in a specific situation where emotions occur. This is the subject of self-activity or self-cause such as God, and the conatus or desire experienced by individual humans in their lives is revealed. In addition, it is intended to examine that desire can be converted into universal desire by active reason. Spinoza's ethics show the possibility of universalization of desire and human self-development through it, that is, the possibility of complete humanity. This conatus expresses the nature of human activities, and all human activities that depict the prospects of one's life are expressed through conatus. It is the ethics of Spinoza that suggests an autonomous human form, an active life, by giving conatus appropriate perception(knowledge). Finally, looking at the connection between God and human self-cause activities, I would like to reveal that Spinoza's ethics shows the way for all mankind to pursue the eternal image(sub specie aeternitatis) through education of desire.
