니체에게 있어 예술에 대한 새로운 강조는 보편적 진리 추구라는 학문적이상에 사로잡힌 전통 철학과는 다른 세계관과 가치관의 전제와 관련되어 있다. 지금까지의 서양 역사가 절대적 진리라는 학문적 이상에 경도되었기 때문에절대적 진리의 폐기로서의 허무주의 시대를 필연적으로 결과했다면, 이 허무주의의 극복과 관련된 새로운 철학은 ‘예술가적 태도’와 밀접한 연관을 가져야한다고 니체는 생각한다. 니체의 예술가적 태도와 연관된 심미주의는 세계와 삶을 객관적 인식을 목적으로 하는 학문적 관심과 도덕적 당위와 같은 실천적 관심에서 접근하는 것이아니라 ‘순수한 미적차원’에서 접근하기를 요구한다. 학문적 관심이 진리(가치)와 거짓(비가치)이라는 이원론적 구도 아래 진리로 판명되지 못한 것들을 일방적으로 부정하고 폐기한다면, 그에 반해 예술가적 태도는 고통과 거짓(비진리)조차도 재해석의 과정을 통해 전체적 삶에 없어서는 안 될 소중한 것으로 새롭게 그 의미를 창조하여 긍정하는 것이다.
The reason why Nietzsche again and again emphasizes art is that Art includes a sense of value and a view of the world different from these in the traditional philosophy. By pursuing the universal truth, western history so far has so emphasized the scientific ideal and the absolute truth that it necessarily caused Nihilism. New philosophy which is expected to be able to overcome Nihilism is closely concerned with “Artistic attitude”. Aestheticism which is related to Nietzsche’s artistic attitude is not approaching the scientific concerns which are pursuing the cognition of world and life, or which are pursuing the practical concern such as moral obligation. In stead, it demands to approach the pure aesthetic dimension. Scientific concerns have denied all that are proved not to be truth in terms of the truth/ falsehood dualism, while artistic attitude by reinterpreting even pains and false creates essential meanings for the whole life.
