니체의 몽테뉴 회의주의 수용과 변형

Nietzsche’s Acception and Transformation of Montaigne’s scepticism

니체는 몽테뉴가 글을 씀으로써 이 지상에서 사는 기쁨이 늘어났다고 극찬하고 있다. 그렇지만 이상하게도 몽테뉴가 니체에게 미친 철학적 영향이나 두 사람 간의 관계에 연구는 아직까지 극히 드물다. 이에 대한 원인을 짐작컨대 니체의 해석자들이 너무 표면적인 언급이나 인용의 빈도수에만 초점을 맞추어 니체의 글을 독해해 왔기 때문이 아닌가싶다. 하지만 니체의 아포리즘적 글쓰기 방식이나 비체계성을 등을 고려할 때 이 같은 식의 이해 방식은 그리 적절하다고보기 어렵다. 오히려 니체가 노골적으로 표현하고 있지는 않지만 그에게 심대한작용을 하고 있는 사상적 맥락을 짚어내는 일이 반드시 필요할 것이다. 이런 의미에서 이 글은 지금까지보다 더 심층적으로 니체에게 다가서서 니체의 사상을파악하기 위한 노력의 일환으로써 방금 언급한 프랑스 모럴리스트이자 니체가높이 평가하고 있는 몽테뉴의 입장이 니체에게 미친 사상적 파급 효과가 어느정도인지 밝혀보고자 한다. 그러나 두 사상가 사이의 전면적인 비교 연구는 많은 시간과 노력이 요구될 것이다. 따라서 이 글에서는 특정한 주제와 관련하여니체가 몽테뉴의 견해를 생산적으로 수용한 부분을 집중적으로 조명해 보고자한다. 그러한 주제로 여기서 택한 것은 미로와 같은 몽테뉴 사상의 핵심적 실마리라고 할 수 있는 회의주의이다.

According to Nietzsche, the delight of living on this earth increases owing toMontaigne’s writing. But strangely there is a few study about the relation betweentwo thinkers or about Montaigne’s philosophical influence on Nietzsche. Becauseit seems that interpreters of Nietzsche have focused on superficial comments orthe frequency of references. Nevertheless such a way of understanding is notappropriate because of Nietzsche’s aphoristic style or deliberate non-systemicwriting. Rather we must discover the contexts of the hidden thoughts thatNietzsche doesn’t express explicitly. In this respect, this dissertation aims toinvestigate French moralist Montaigne’s influence on Nietzsche in order to knowNietzsche deeper. But the overall research between two thinkers will ask manytimes and labors. Therefore we choose the essential part of Montaigne’s thoughtsi.e scepticism.
