정체성으로 본 푸틴의 러시아: 한,러 교류증진을 위한 시사점을 중심으로

국가 정체성의 맥락에서 한 나라를 설명하는 것은 보다 깊고 종합적인 시각을 우리에게 제공한다. 지난 역사를 통해 러시아가 왜 그런 과정을 겪었고, 그렇게 행동할 수밖에 없었는지에 대한 배경을 이해한다면 상대가 필요로 하는 지점에서 상호 도움이 되는 협력방안을 찾는 데 큰 도움이 될 것이다. 본 연구는 러시아 정체성 형성과정과 특성을 살펴보고, 이를 바탕으로 현대 러시아의 정치ㆍ경제ㆍ사회문화를 이해하려는 목적에서 집필되었다. 현대 러시아의 정치ㆍ경제ㆍ문화는 동서양 문명의 양분을 흡수하면서도 자신들의 전통과 독자성을 추구해온 결과물이다. 다민족, 다문화 국가인 러시아는 태생적으로 자신들의 정체성을 무엇이라고 분명하게 이야기할 수 없는 지리적ㆍ문명적ㆍ인구학적 조건을 가지고 있다. 그래서 러시아는 광대한 영토와 자연환경만큼이나 복합적 요소를 지니고 있다. 사실 정체성이란 고정불변의 것이 아니다. 러시아 정체성 역시 시대와 사회변화, 집권세력의 의도에 따라 다양하게 해석되고 끊임없이 재구성되었다. 러시아 정체성의 특징 중 하나인 상반된 요소의 공존 역시 자신들의 내면을 다르게 바라본 결과물이다. 또한 러시아인들은 자신들의 나아갈 방향을 유럽에서 찾기도 하고, 유라시아적 요소에서 구하기도 하였다. 이러한 두 가지 관점은 서로 갈등, 상호작용을 통해 다양한 관점으로 분화되었다. 러시아 지식인들은 자신들의 내면에 대해서도 금욕적인 정교 신앙과 강렬한 세속적 욕망이라는 이질적 요소가 함께 존재한다고 말한다. 러시아는 이러한 양면성을 국가 정체성을 통해 극명하게 보여주고 있다. 러시아의 정체성 혼란은 문명의 변방, 또는 중간지대에 위치했던 지정학적 조건이 낳은 결과이기도 하다. 이러한 혼란 속에서도 관습종교가 되어버린 정교는 러시아 정체성 형성은 물론 정치ㆍ경제ㆍ사회문화에 지대한 영향을 주었다. 지리적으로도 러시아는 동양과 서양, 태평양과 대서양을 동시에 접하는 광활한 영토로 인해 유라시아 대륙의 양극단을 모두 아우르고 있다. 푸틴은 이러한 지리적 조건을 활용하여 강대국으로 부상하고 싶어 한다. 이를 위해 효율적인 국가운영에 필요한 권위주의와 국가주의 강화가 필요하다고 주장한다. 푸틴의 반서방정책에는 서구식 민주주의가 들어오면 자신들의 정권안보가 위태로워질 수 있다는 위기감이 반영되어 있다.…

Explaining a country in the context of national identity provides us with a deeper and more comprehensive view. Understanding the background of why Russia has gone through such a process and has been forced to act like that through the past history will be of great help in finding mutually helpful cooperation measures at the point where the other person needs it. This study was written for the purpose of examining the process and characteristics of the formation of Russian identity, and to understand the political, economic, and social culture of modern Russia. Modern Russia’s politics, economy, and culture are the result of pursuing their own tradition and identity while absorbing the nutrients of Eastern and Western civilization. Russia, a multiracial and multicultural country, is a country with geographic, civilized, and demographic conditions in which it is not possible to clearly describe their identities. So Russia has as complex elements as its vast territory and natural environment. Modern Russia’s politics, economy, and culture are the result of pursuing their own tradition and identity while absorbing the nutrients of Eastern and Western civilization. Russia, a multi-ethnical and multi-cultural country, is a country with geographic, civilized, and demographic conditions in which it is not possible to clearly describe their identities. The Russian identity was also constantly reconstructed and interpreted in various ways, depending on the times, social changes, and the intentions of the ruling powers. The coexistence of conflicting elements, one of the characteristics of Russian identity, is also a result of looking at their inner selves differently. The Russians also sought their own direction in Europe and sought it from Eurasian elements as well.
