니체의 형이상학 비판의 성과는 거의 이의가 없을 정도로 확실하다. 그와 비교하면 니체의 정치사상은 매우 논란의 여지가 많다. 오늘날 거의 정치적 의미가 없다는 극단적 평가가 있는가 하면 , 파시스트적 경향을 띤다는 부정적인 평가도 있고 신자유주의 정치사상을 위해 강력한 정치철학적 근거를 제공한다는 평가도 있으며, 그와 달리 오히려 탈현대적 개인주의와 다양성을 위한 강력한 돌파구로 작용한다는 평가도 있다. 이들 각 관점은 때로는 과장되고 때로는 부분적인 관점을 대변한다. 본 논문은 그것들과 다른 핵심적인 관점을 점검하고자 한다. 그것은 ‘위대한 정치’의 관점이다. 그것은 니체가 민주주의를 비판하고 반대하는 정치철학적 근거이자 목표였지만, 어떤 점에서는 역설적으로 또 다른 이상적인 성격을 가졌다. 그것은 정치적 담론에 심오한 철학적 목표를 제공했지만 다른 한편으로 구체적 현실성을 무시하거나 심지어 왜곡하는 점도 있다. 그러나, 무엇보다 동등한 권리를 거부 하는 그것은 민주주의적 성과를 맹목적으로 조롱하는 듯하지만, 다른 한편으로는 민주주의적 이념 뒤에 완강히 숨겨진 무서운 싸움과 격차를 성찰하게 하는 듯하다
Nietzsches criticism of metaphysics is a subject the effects of which are relatively clear. In contrast to that, his thoughts of politics are matter which arouse extreme controversy. Some say, they are at present not significant at all, some say, they are fascistic, on the other hand they are told to have strong penchant of political neo-conservatism, or they are told to be a strong precursor of post modern political values(for example, individualism and pluralism). These perspectives seem partly exaggerated, partly one-sided. I want to propose in this article one crucial axis of his political thoughts. That is 'the great politics'. It provided him the political-philosophical ground to criticize and to oppose the democracy, but remained in paradoxical way idealistic. It made his political discourses profound, but on the other hand made them speculative. To speak otherwise, it made itself dangerous by despising democracy and its ideal of 'equal rights for all, but elicited violent struggle and conflicts working behind the facade of democratic high values.
