Empirical Exploration of Involvement in Philanthropic Organizations: Focusing on Perceptions of Welfare and Social Fairness1)

본 연구는 시민의 복지인식과 사회적 공정성에 대한 인식이 나눔행동에 미치는 영향력을 살피는데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 사회통합실태조사 2021의 8,077명의 응답을 활용하여, 복지인식은 3가지: 성장과 분배 가치에 대한 태도, 복지를 위한 추가적인 납세 의향, 타인의 복지에 대한 시민의 책임성으로 살펴보았으며, 공정성 인식은 5가지: 교육 기회, 취업 기회, 과세 및 납세, 복지혜택 기회, 경제사회적 분배구조, 보건의료혜택 기회로 살펴보았다. 순서형 로지스틱 회귀분석을 실시한 연구 결과, 분배에 대한 중요성 인식과 선별적 복지를 위한 추가 납세 의향은 자선단체 관여 수준에 정적 방향에서, 타인의 복지에 대한 시민의 책임성 인식은 부적 방향에서 유의미한 영향력을 갖는 것으로 나타났다. 경제사회적 분배구조의 공정성 인식은 자선단체 관여 수준에 정적 방향, 보건의료혜택 기회의 공정성 인식은 부적 방향으로의 유의미한 영향력을 갖는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구 는 복지와 사회에 대한 개인의 인식을 다룸으로써 개인의 나눔 행동에 미치는 영향을 다각적으로 살폈다. 특히 교육, 취업, 분배구조 등과 같은 사회의 주요 부문들이 얼마나 공정한지에 대한 인식과 함께 복지(비용)의 주체 등 복지인식의 영향력을 함께 고려함으로써 나눔 행동에 대한 이해를 심화하였다는 데 연구의 의미가 있다.

This study aims to examine the influence of citizens' perceptions of welfare and social fairness on philanthropic behaviors utilizing the responses of 8,077 individuals from the Social Integration Survey 2021. As a result of the ordered logistic regression analysis, it was found that perceived importance of distribution and willingness to pay additional taxes had a significant positive effect on involvement in philanthropic organizations, while, civic responsibility to help people in need had a significant negative effect on involvement in philanthropic organizations. In addition, it was found that perceived fairness of socioeconomic distribution structure had a significant positive effect, while, perceived fairness of health and medical benefits had a significant negative effect on involvement in philanthropic organizations. This study examined the influence on philanthropic behaviors from various point of views by addressing individual's perceptions of welfare and society. In particular, this study is meaningful as it deepens understanding of individual philanthropic behavior by considering, both of influence, on the perceptions of the subject of welfare (expenses), and how fair major sectors of the society such as education, employment, and distribution structure.
