Wood is a good material for children's toys, and woodworking has a positive effect on children's development through work-oriented-education using hand skills. In the Nuri curriculum revised in 2019, as the importance of activities that children can experience and learn through play led by their own initiative is important, the wooden playground can become a new alternative that combines learning and play. Therefore, we intend to prepare an efficient operation manual through a pilot case so that wooden playgrounds can be created in each region. The wooden playground for the pilot operation was operated for a total of 3 weeks for children aged 3 to 5 on a scale of about 120 ㎡ in the downtown area. The justification for creating a wooden playground was confirmed through the theories of children's play, imagination, playground, and right to play. Children can learn a variety of things through stories about the symbolism and character of trees. During the pilot period, most of the users were satisfied with the wooden playground, and there were also requests for various programs while feeling sorry for the short pilot period. In terms of space, balanced arrangement of toys, separation of work space, and reinforcement of professional manpower are required, so it seems necessary to develop standards that include the development of professional manpower and various contents. A wooden playground can be an important educational site for young children in the carbon-neutral era.
