대학교 국제개발협력 이해증진사업 지원 교과목 수강 전후 세계시민의식 변화 비교: 강원권 사례 중심의 예비 연구

본 연구의 목적은 한국국제협력단의 대학교 국제개발협력 이해증진사업 지원을 받아 개설된 교과목 수강 전후 세계시민의식의 변화를 살펴보는 것이다. 이를위해 사업에 참여한 강원권 2개 대학에서 해당 교과목을 수강한 학생들을 대상으로 설문조사 및 인터뷰를 실시하였다. 70명의 학생이 수강 전후 총 2회에 걸쳐 설문조사에 참여하였으며, 설문조사 응답자 중 해당 교과목 외에 다른 경로를 통해세계시민 교육 및 관련 활동을 접한 경험이 있는 4명의 학생들을 대상으로 개인심층인터뷰도 진행하였다. 대응표본 t-검정, 윌콕슨 부호 순위검정 결과, 세계시민의식 4개 영역 중 실천 영역에서의 세계시민의식에서만 통계적으로 유의미한 변화가 있었다. 지식, 기능, 태도 등 세계시민의식의 나머지 3개 영역에 대한 인터뷰를 통해 이를 분석한 결과, 해당 교과목 이외에 다른 경로로 습득할 수 있는 기회들이 다양하게 존재한다는 점, 그리고 실천 영역에 비해 이미 대학생 수준에서 상당부분 보편적으로 받아들여진 영역들이라는 점 때문에 교과목 수강 직후 괄목할만한 개선을 기대하기 어려울 수 있다는 결론을 도출하였다. 본 연구의 결과는 대학생의 세계시민의식 함양 및 국제개발협력 인식증진을 목표로 준정부기관에서매년 지원하는 사업의 성과를 측성하기 위한 예비자료로 활용될 수 있을 것이다.

This study aimed to examine the changes in the levels of global citizenship before and after taking courses supported by the ‘KOICA Development Awareness Program’ To that end, surveys and interviews were conducted with 2 universities in Gangwon province. A total of 70 students participated in both pre- and post-surveys and an individual in-depth interview was performed with 4 students who already had experience in education and activities for global citizenship through other channels. The paired t-test or the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test results showed that a statistically significant change was found only in the practice factor among the 4 domains of global citizenship. The analysis of individual interviews indicated that the students earned the knowledge, skill and attitude factors from other sources or perceived them as something universal. Therefore, little changes in these factors after taking the course can be expected. The results from this study can be used as preliminary evidence for assessing the outcomes of the government supported program whose purpose is to improve global citizenship and the awareness on international development cooperation.
