강릉단오제를 통한 우리 민속 문화의 정서

The emotion of our folk culture through Gangneung Dano Festival: communication through exorcism

수릿날, 천중절이라고 부르는 단오는 일 년 중에서 가장 양기가 왕성한 날이라 해서 예로부터 큰 명절로 여겨져 왔다. 창포로 머리 감기, 더위를 쫒는 부채 만들기 등으로 지역행사를 통해 세시풍속을 이어가고 있지만 규모와 내용면에서 많이 축소되고 행사를 위한 행사로 진행되고 있는 실정이다. 반면에 강릉 단오굿은 세습무녀들에 의해 진행되고 유명한 무녀들과 악사들의 무속음악으로 전통성을 잘 유지하고 있어서 민속적 가치가 크다. 본 논문은 한국 역사의 시작과 함께 한 무속신앙이 강릉단오제를 통해 전통적으로 구현되고 있는 모습에서 우리 민속신앙의 역사와 유래 그리고 민속신앙의 정수 굿과 굿의 진행에서 없어서는 안 되는 존재인 무당에 대하여 문헌자료와 연구논문을 고찰하였다. 역사 속에서 무가 지니는 의미와 형태 및 무속인에 대한 분석을 통하여 우리민족의 근원종교를 분석하고, 강릉단오제 속에서 전통적 모습으로 형태가 전승되고 있는 무형문화, 민속신앙의 중요성 및 형태의 보존을 위한 방안을 제시하고자 한다.

Dano called Surinnal, Cheonjungjeol, has been deemed to be a big festival from ancient times as the day most full of energy during the year. People relay the seasonal customs through the local events like washing the hair with the water infused with sweet flags, making fans to turn out heat but the customs have much shrunk in the respect of their size and content, now remaining an event for the sake of the event. On the contrary, Kangneung Dano Exorcism is performed by hereditary female shamans maintaining the tradition with a shaman music of famous female shamans and musicians, which has a high folk value. In this study we studied the history and origin of our folk faith, the exorcism, the essence of the folk faith and a female shaman, the being indispensible in the proceedings of the exorcism through the literature data and theses in the shapes where the shaman faith is embodied traditionally through Gangneung Dano Festival together with the commencement of Korean history. We attempted to analyze the original religion of our nation through the detailed analysis on the meaning and forms of shamanism and exorcists in the history and suggest the plan to preserve the intangible culture where the forms have been handed down with the traditional shapes through Gangneung Dano Festival, the importance of the folk faith and its forms.
