영남지역 기독교문화유산의 과제

The Issues of Christian Cultural Heritage in the Gyungsang Province

문화유산(cultural inheritance)은 일반적으로 “앞 세대의 사람들이 물려준, 후대에 계승되고 상속될 만한 가치를 지닌 문화적 전통”으로 정의된다. 문화유산에는 선대가 남긴 유물이나 유적 가운데 역사적·예술적 가치가 높은 유형문화재가 있고, 예술적 가치가 높은 연주·무용·음악·공예·기술 등 형태가 없는 무형문화재가 있다. 그래서 문화유산은 인간 삶의 전 영역에서 표현된 각종 문화 식을 포함하고 있다. 영남지방 기독교문화유산 혹은 문화재는 이 지역에서 선교사역을 전개했던 미국 북장로교 선교부와 호주 빅토리아장로교 선교부와 밀접하게 관련되어 있다. 이 지역 유형문화재는 대부분은 교회건축물, 혹은 선교 초기 각 지역 선교부가 건축한 선교관, 선교사의 개인주택, 기독교학교나 관련 건물, 혹은 선교 병원건물 등이다. 이런 건축물은 거의 1890년대 이후 건축된 것이므로, 문화재법으로 볼 때 근대건축물에 속한다. 그 외에도 주한 각선교부나 기독교회가 제작했던 기독교문서, 성경과 찬송가, 그리고 신문과 잡지들, 초기 교회가 생산한 문건들, 그리고 교회에서 사용했던 악기들과 선교병원에서 사용했던 의료기기 등인데 이는 영남지역에서도 동일하다. 기독교문화 유산들은 선교지부가 있던 곳을 중심으로 산재되어 있다. 문화유산 보전(保傳)을 위해 한국교회는 거 교회적인 관심을 가져야 하고, 조사된 유무형 문화유산 가운데, 역사적 가치가 높은 유산들부터 정부기구에 등록해야 한다. 기독교계가 자체적으로 기독교 등록문화재로 등제하는 제도를 개발할 필요가 있다.

Cultural inheritance is generally defined as “a cultural tradition handed down by the previous generation, inherited and inherited in later generations.” There are tangible cultural properties with high historical and artistic value, and intangible cultural properties with no artistic value such as performance, dance, music, arts and crafts. Therefore, cultural heritage includes various cultural expressions expressed in all areas of human life. Christian heritage or cultural assets in the Yeongnam area are closely related to the Presbyterian Church Presbyterian missions in the United States and the Presbyterian Church in Victoria, Australia, which have conducted missionary work in the region. Most of these tangible cultural properties are church buildings, mission stations built by missionaries in the early days of mission, private houses of missionaries, Christian schools or related buildings, or mission hospital buildings. These buildings were built almost after the 1890s, so they belong to modern architecture according to the cultural property law. In addition, Christian documents, Bible and hymns, newspapers and magazines, documents produced by early churches, instruments used in churches, and medical devices used in mission hospitals, It is the same in Yeongnam area. The Christian cultural heritage is scattered around the place where the mission field is located. For preservation of cultural heritage, Korean churches should have a keen interest in the church, and should register with the government organization from the heritage of high historical value among the studied non-formal cultural heritage. There is a need to develop a system in which Christians themselves are registered as Christian cultural properties.
