A Research on Postmodernism from the Christian Worldview

본 논문은 포스트모더니즘에 대한 기독교 세계관적 고찰이다. 포스트모더니즘이란 일반적으로 모더니즘에 대한 환상이 깨어진 후 그 대안으로 나타난 세계관이라고 할 수 있다. 이 모더니즘적 이상을 포기하되 인본주의라는 기본 사상은 포기하지 않은 모더니즘 이후의 세계관이 바로 포스트모더니즘이며 여기에는 문화, 예술, 철학, 역사, 경제, 건축, 소설 및 문학비평 등에 대한 다양하고 회의적인 해석들을 포함한다. 이 세계관은 일관성보다 더 파편화되고 객관적이 아닌 주관적인 도덕성을 강조하면서 종교적 뿌리와 초월적 특성들을 의도적으로 제거한다. 따라서 포스트모더니스트들은 그동안 소외되어왔고 외면받아온 사람들, 특히 가난하고 억압받는 이들에 대해 특별한 관심이 있다. 이 포스트모더니즘에 대해 기독교 세계관으로 더 깊이 고찰하되 헤르만 도여베르트의 선험적 비판이라는 방법론을 사용하여 먼저 이 세계관의 배경과 내용이 구체적으로 어떤지 고찰한 후 그 대표적 사상가들을 언급하고 이 세계관의 강점들과 내적인 모순이 될 수 있는 약점들을 각각 비판적으로 살펴본다. 그 후 이 포스트모더니즘의 약점들에 대해 기독교 세계관적 대안은 무엇인지 결론적으로 제시한다.

This article is a research on postmodernism from the Christian worldview. Postmodernism has appeared as the alternative of modernism which has lost its credibility. In order to replace modernism, postmodernism came without losing the basic human centered ideal. It includes various expressions in culture, arts, philosophy, history, economics, architecture and literature, etc. By eliminating religious root and transcendent character, it also emphasizes more fragmented, subjective morality instead of consistent, objective one. Postmodernists have a special concern for the alienated and disregarded people who are poor and oppressed. Nevertheless, this worldview has many problems. This article, therefore, by using Herman Dooyeweerd’s transcendental critical method, takes a careful look at the background and the contents of this worldview and then mentions some representative thinkers. After that, not only its strong aspects but also its weak and self-contradictory points will be critically investigated. In conclusion, an attempt is made to offer alternatives to the weak points from the Christian worldview.
