Size Controlled Ni/SiO 2 Catalysts to Obtain Highly Dispersed Ni for Dry Reforming of Methane

Dry reforming of methane (DRM) can converts greenhouse gases (CO 2 and CH4), and also produces industrial feedstock syngas. However, due to high reaction temperature, coking and sintering cause deactivation of catalysts. Previous studies on the DRM reported high Ni dispersion makes metal-support interaction better, so it can restrain undesired side reactions. In this study, we synthesize different size of SiO 2 support which appear different surface area to vary Ni dispersion. The silica spheres were obtained by facile Stöber method in different synthetic conditions. Dry reforming of methane reaction was conducted using the size controlled Ni/SiO 2 catalysts. Finally, we elucidated relationships between the size of catalyst support and catalyst performance for DRM.
