우리나라 초등학생의 그릿(Grit)수준이 인지, 정서, 사회 발달에 미치는 영향

The effects of girt on cognitive, emotional and social development of elementary school students in Korea: Differential effects by life-long goal and household income levels

이 연구에서는 한국아동패널 9-11년차 자료를 활용하여 우리나라 아동들의 인지, 정서, 사회발달에 대한 그릿의 평균적 효과와 이타적 인생목표, 소득수준에 따른 차별적 효과를 분석하였다. 인지발달은 국어와 수학성취도, 정서발달은 행복감, 자아존중감과 삶의 만족도, 사회발달은 친구관계와 교사와의 관계 측면에서 살펴보았다. 그릿은 끈기와 열정 두 하위구인을 구별하여 살펴 보았으며, 그릿수준에 영향을 미치는 사전공변인의 효과를 통제한 분석을 수하였다. 연구결과 첫째, 그릿(끈기)에는 행복감, 자아존중감, 주의집중, 부모의 긍정적 양육태도가 영향을 미쳤으며, 그릿(열정)에는 부모와의 대화정도, 친구관계에서의 소외감, 컴퓨터 및 스마트폰 사용정도가 영향을 미쳤다. 둘째, 사전공변인의 영향력을 통제하고 분석한 결과, 그릿(끈기, 열정)은 행복감, 자아존중감, 삶의 만족도, 친구관계에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 이타적 인생목표, 소득수준에 따른 차별적 효과가 일부 유의하였다. 그릿(끈기)이 친구관계에서 소외감을 낮추는 효과는 이타적 인생목표를 가진 아동의 경우 더 크게 나타났다. 소득수준이 가장 낮은 집단의 아동인 경우 소득수준이 중간수준 집단의 아동보다 그릿(끈기)이 친구관계에서 소외감을 낮추는 효과가 더 크게 나타났다. 이러한 연구결과를 바탕으로 연구의 시사점을 논의하였다.

The purposes of this study were to identify the effect of Grit on cognitive, emotional, and social development and to investigate the differencial effect accroding to the type of student's life-long goal, and the level of household income. To do this, 9th to 11th waves of the Panel Study of Korean Children(PSKC 2018) were utilized, and generalized propensity score method applied. The results of this study were as follows. First, happiness, self-esteem, concentration, positive parenting attitude significantly influenced on students’ grit score(perseverance of efforts). The frequency of conversation with parents, the smart phone and PC utilization, and the sense of alienation affect students' grit score(consistency of interest). Second, Grit had a positive effect on students' happiness, self-esteem, life satisfaction, and peer relationships. Third, Grit showed differential effects on emotional, and social development according to the type of student's life-long goal, and the level of household income. Based on these results, the implications of this study and suggestions for future study were discussed.
