제3장 신채호의 역사인식과 민족주의

Shin Chae-ho's Perception of History and Nationalism

본 논문은 신채호의 역사인식과 민족주의에 대한 본질적 성격에 대한 탐색을 목적으로 하고 있다. 신채호의 역사관과 민족주의를 간략하게 정리하면, 다음과 같이 요약할 수 있다. 먼저, 신채호의 역사관은 민족의 주체성 회복을 위한 체계적 논리를 제공하며, 새로운 역사해석의 새 지평을 열어 주었다. 즉 유교적 사대주의 사관과 식민지 사관을 극복하는 열쇠를 신채호는 “독사신론”과 “조선상고사” 등 많은 사론에서 제시해 준 것이다. 다음으로 그의 민족주의론은 국망전후를 해석 방법론적 변화를 생성하며, 한층 현실적 환경에 대한 적극적인 투쟁의 길로 진척되고 있음을 알 수 있다. 그에 있어 민족주의는 애국심을 갖춘 ‘아(我)’와 ‘신민(新民)’과 ‘정신상 국가(精神上國家)’에서 ‘민중’과 ‘혁명’으로 전이되고 있지만, 이는 시대적 환경변화에 따른 변용으로 이해할 수 있다. 그 당시 민족의 목적지에 대한 궁극적인 방향이 ‘민족을 위한’ 길이라는 점에서 더욱 잘 이해할 수 있다.

The purpose of this study is to explore essential character of Shin Chae-ho's Perception of History and Nationalism. Shin Chae-ho's Perception of History and Nationalism can be summarized as follows: First, his perception of history provide a systematic logic for regain of national identity and a new prospect for history interpretation. In other words, he suggested a key idea that overcomes the Sino-centrism and the colonial view of history in “Doksasillon” and “the ancient Korean History”. Second, his nationalism produced a methodological transition and expressed an active way of struggle for the actual environment. For him, nationalism changed from 'ego' and 'new people' and 'spirit nation' that possess patriotism to 'Minjung' and 'Revolution'. This transition was understanded as an alteration for environment change. From this point of view, we assume that his view of nation's destination was understanded as ‘the road of nation’.
