제4장 백산 안희제의 구국활동과 민족사상의 내용에 관한 연구

A Study on Baeksan Ahn Hee-jae’s Activities to Save the Country and His Nationalist Ideas

본 논문은 백산 안희제의 구국활동과 민족사상의 내용에 관한 연구이다. 백산은 죽음을 미리 예견하고 동지들이 화를 받을 우려가 있기 때문에 모든 자료를 불태워, 그가 남긴 글이나 저서가 남아있지 않다. 민족사상에 대한 연구는 그의 생각이 담긴 글을 주로 해서 해석을 해야 하나, 본 논문은 그의 생애 활동을 중심으로 주관적 입장에서 그의 민족사상을 도출하는 한계를 가지고 출발하였음을 밝힌다. 그는 국난을 해결하기 위해서 첫째, 민족교육우선론으로, 특히 청소년 교육을 중심으로 구시대의 연장이 아니 새로운 미래를 창조하려고 하였다. 둘째, 민족중심론은 우리 민족의 뿌리이자 원형인 고유사상을 바탕으로 한 공동체의식에서 비롯된 민족애와 조국애이다. 셋째, 민족자주정신론은 우리 민족의 사상이 깃든 민족종교에서 민족의 주체성을 발현하고자 하였다. 따라서 그의 민족사상의 핵심은 근대적 교육을 우선시 하되 고유사상을 바탕으로 한 민족이 주인이 되는 자주독립과 이상배달국을 건설하는 것이 그의 염원이라고 하겠다.

This is a study on Baeksan Ahn Hee-jae’s activities to save the country and his nationalist ideas. In anticipation of death, Baeksan burned down all of his material to avoid troubles for his comrades. So there are none of his writings or books left for us. A study on his nationalist ideas should focus on discussion of his writings, yet the lack of first-hand material led to a subjective study to infer his nationalist ideas from the activities in his life. In order to solve the national crisis, he tried to open a new future based on national education, especially education of the youths. Second, his theory of ethnocentrism is concerned with love of our race and nation that was derived from the community spirit based upon our indigenous thoughts, which are the roots and prototype of our race. Third, his theory of national independence aimed at manifesting the national identity from our ethnic religion which contained the belief system of our race. Therefore, the essence of his nationalist ideas was to prioritize modern education based on our indigenous thoughts and fundamentally, envisioned our independence and autonomy as a nation and an ideal Baedal nation.
