A Study on the Modernization issues of Korean Thought

본 논문은 한국사상의 현대화문제에 대한 것이다. 한국사상은 그 사상의 보편성, 합리성 및 평화성으로 볼 때 결코 과거의 유산으로 묻어 두어서는 안 된다고 생각한다. 한국사상은 오늘을 사는 우리들에게 우리가 당면한 문제들을 해결하기 위한 계기 내지 첩경이라고 판단된다. 한국사상을 계승하고 현대화하기 위해서는 반드시 그에 상응하는 전제 조건이 필요하다. 우선 연구자 개인이 한국인이라는 사실 그리고 한민족의 일원임에 무한한 자부심을 지니고 있어야 한다. 그리고 우리 역사의 저변에 한국사상이 있음을 자각해야 한다. 마지막으로 우리 정신의 뿌리가 바로 한국사상임을 인식해야 한다. 이러한 인식 하에 한국사상의 현대화작업에 대해 필자 나름의 견해를 제시하면 첫째, 우리 사상에 대한 자부심을 갖도록 모든 역량을 발휘해야 한다는 것이다. 자부심이 없는 현대화작업이란 사상누각에 불과하다. 둘째, 한국사상이 발산하는 정신과 현대사회의 제반 문제들과 깊은 연계성 통해 제반 문제들을 극복하기 위한 계기 내지 추동력을 추출해야 한다는 것이다. 셋째, 한국 사상이 지니고 있는 보편성에 대한 현대화작업이 요청된다. 우리 사상에 대한 보편성 문제는 현재를 사는 이들에게 깊은 자긍심을 준다는 점에서 큰 의미를 지니고 있다고 하겠다.

This study is on the modernization issues of Korean thought. Seen from it’s conservatism, rationality and peacefulness, Korean thought never should have buried as a relic of the past. Korean thought is determined to us as royal road to the instrument for resolving the problems in the present. To succeed and modernize Korean thought, the corresponding pre-conditions are required. First of all, researcher should have pride in as a member of the Korean nation. And he must be aware that Korean thought is in the base of Korean history. Finally, We must be aware that the root of our spirit is a Korean thought. Under this recognition, the modernization issues of Korean thought are follows; First, we have to exercise all to present a sense of pride in our thought. Without a sense of pride in our thought, our modernization’s work is only a house built on the sand. Second, through the spirit producing in Korean thought and deep connection with the problems of modern society, we must extract the impetus to overcome multiple problems. Third, it is needed for the modernization’s work on the conservatism of Korean thought.
