In dogs, iliopsoas muscle strain occurs frequently in sports dogs and agility dogs that use excessive force and is found in the form of acute or chronic trauma. A dog with incidental iliopsoas muscle strain is intermittently seen with limited weight load during leash walking or after physical activity. Overseas veterinary societies, and in the case of humans, many studies on iliopsoas muscles have been reported in relation to posture, walking, and back pain. However, there is a lack of interest in the domestic veterinary medical community compared to the increase in the number of companion animals and the increase in dog sports every year. This study aims to discuss rehabilitative interventions in veterinary clinics by understanding functional anatomy and injury of iliopsoas muscles presented in various literature, evaluating physical examinations, imaging diagnosis and clinical symptoms, depending on acute and chronic.
