대학 신입생의 성별 직업적 성격유형과 학업성적과의 관계

Analyzing the Relationship between Career Interest Type and Academic Performance among College Students

본 연구는 대학 신입생의 성별 직업적 성격유형과 학업성적의 관계를 알아보는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 이를 위해 대학 신입생들을 대상으로 Holland검사를 통해 나타난 직업적 성격유형과 학업성적과의 관계를 알아보았다. 먼저 각 유형별로 남녀의 차이를 분석한 결과, 직업적 성격유형이 남녀에 따라 다르게 나타나 성별에 따라 각기 다른 직업적 성격유형을 나타냈다. 남녀 학생 집단을 대상으로 성격유형 중 가장 많은 분포를 보인 순서를 살펴본 결과, 두 집단 모두 유의한 차이를 보였다. 남학생의 경우 실재형이 가장 높게, 사회형이 두 번째로 높았고, 예술형이 가장 낮게 분포되었다. 반면 여학생은 남학생과 달리 사회형이 가장 높았고 예술형이 그 다음 순서였으며 탐구형이 가장 낮게 분포된다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 성별에 따른 직업적 성격유형 점수의 차이를 분석한 결과, 탐구형을 제외한 5가지 유형에서 모두 남녀별 유의미한 점수 차이를 보여주었으며 실재형에서는 남학생이, 그리고 예술형과 사회형, 기업형, 관습형에서는 모두 여학생의 점수가 월등히 높은 것으로 분석되었다. 직업적 성격유형에 따른 학업성적의 차이를 분석한 결과, 대학 신입생 전체 집단과 남학생 집단에서 예술형의 학생이 미적분학에서 다른 유형보다 월등히 낮은 학업성적을 보여 이들을 위한 특별한 대책과 지도 방안이 강구될 필요가 있는 것으로 파악되었다.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between career interest types and academic performance of college students. First, as a result of analyzing the difference between male and female college students for each type, career interest types were different according to gender. And distribution orders of each career interest type within the two groups showed significant differences. In the male student group: investigative type was the highest, social type was the second highest, and artistic type was the lowest. On the other hand, unlike male students, in the female student group: social type was the highest, artistic type was the next and investigative type was the lowest. According to the analysis of gender differences in career interest type scores, there were significant differences in all five types except for investigative type. Male students were higher than female just in realistic type and female students had significantly higher scores in realistic type, artistic type, social type, enterprising type and conventional type. As a result of analyzing the differences in academic performance according to the career interest type, it was found that artistic type students in the entire college student group and male student group showed significantly lower academic performance than other types in calculus, so special guidance measures and teaching methods are needed to improve their learning abilities.
