Objectives In spite of the large prevalence, there has rarely been effective treatment for the defecation disorder. Here we report three cases treated satisfactorily with a novel taping therapy. Methods (Case 1) 72-year-old male complained constipation and his stool could not be flushed in toilet without cutting into several pieces; (Case 2) 2-year-old male had an allergy against breast milk and had shown diarrhea when fed with anything; (Case 3) 32-year-old female had chronic constipation with very thin stool accompanied by maldigestion, bloated stomach, fatigue, and headache. Her abdomen muscle was too stiff for the acupuncture needle to be inserted. Chimsband, a medical tape equipped with silver and optic fiber, was attached at the sensitive sites against palpation (trigger points) in the lower rectus abdominis muscle. Results (Case 1) After 4 days from initial treatment, stool became moister and flushing became easier. After 1 month, the stool was moist enough and the patient was satisfied. (Case 2) After 3 days, the stool became firmer. Following 1 week, the stool changed to be not watery and 1 more week later, the rubefaction around the anus has disappeared. (Case 3) After attachment, lower abdomen sounded immediately and diarrhea occurred 3 times on the next day with feeling at ease. Conclusions Tracing sensitive response in lower rectus abdominis muscle and oblique muscle is useful for the examination and treatment in chronic defecation disorder. Chimsband, using the specific materials of silver and optic fiber, was effective for these defecation disorder cases.
