관광 부문 질적연구의 패러다임과 토대이론에 대한 고찰

A review on the research paradigms and the grounded theory in qualitative studies in the field of tourism

관광 분야에서 질적연구의 비중이 높아지고 있으나, 많은 질적연구 사례에서 연구 패러다임 적용 등의 오류가 범해지고 있다. 이 논문에서는 관광 분야 질적연구에 적용할 수 있는 연구 패러다임을 설명하고, 특히 질적연구방법으로 자주 사용되는 근거이론에 대해 설명하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 먼저 연구자가 연구대상에 접근하는 태도이자 단계로서 연구 패러다임과 연구방법, 자료원 등에 대한 구조를 설명하였다. 이후 연구 패러다임의 유형으로 실증주의, 후기실증주의, 비판이론, 구성주의 각각에 대한 존재론적, 인식론적, 방법론적 가정을 설명하였다. 또한 근거이론의 개념과 진화 과정을 설명하고, 전통적 근거이론, 진화된 근거이론, 구성주의적 근거이론 등 각 근거이론의 유형별 연구 패러다임, 연구방법, 연구 사례, 비판과 신뢰도 등에 대해 논의하였다. 마지막으로 관광 분야 질적연구의 발전을 위한 제언을 제시하였다. 이 논문에 대한 비판과 논의를 통해 향후 관광 분야 질적연구에 대한 고찰과 발전이 지속될 수 있기를 바란다.

Although the number of qualitative studies in the field of tourism has increased, errors in applying the research paradigm and methodology are still common. This study aims to address the qualitative research paradigm and methodologies, with a particular emphasis on the grounded theory, which is commonly used in qualitative research. This research examines various research paradigms, such as positivism, post-positivism, critical theory, and constructivism, as well as their ontological, epistemological, and methodological assumptions. The concept of grounded theory and its evolution are discussed. Furthermore, the research paradigm, research method, research cases, as well as criticisms and credibility for various types of grounded theory, are discussed. Finally, recommendations for encouraging appropriate qualitative research are provided. It is hoped that this study will spark lively debates about the research paradigm and methodologies of qualitative studies in tourism.
