관광 특성화 고등학생을 대상으로 한 지속가능한 관광 교육의 효과

The effectiveness of sustainable tourism education for tourism-specialized high school students

관광산업에서 지속가능발전에 기여하기 위한 노력이 지속되고 있으며, 이를 달성하기 위하여 교육의 중요성은 많은 연구자들에 의해 강조되어왔다. 그럼에도 불구하고 지속가능한 관광 교육과 관련된 연구의 수는 매우 부족하였으며, 주된 연구대상도 주로 대학교 관광 전공자 등에 한정되었다는 한계점을 지닌다. 이러한 한계를 극복하고자 이 연구는 미래 관광 산업의 주역이라 할 수 있는 관광 특성화 고등학교 학생들을 대상으로 이들의 지속가능한 관광에 대한 인식, 지식, 태도 및 행동의도 차원을 검증하였다. 또한 시나리오 기반 설계를 통해 학생들에게 유인물, 카드뉴스, 영상 등 세 가지 유형의 교육자료를 제공한 뒤 각 그룹별 응답결과를 비교하여 교육자료 제공 유형별 효과성을 검증하고자 하였다. 그 결과 교육을 통해 전반적인 수준의 인식, 지식, 태도 및 행동의도가 향상되었으며, 각 그룹별 교육의 효과성의 경우 일부 항목을 제외하고 유의한 관계가 발생하지 않았다. 이 연구는 지금까지 지속가능한 관광 교육의 맥락에서 시도되지 않았던 관광 특성화 고등학교 학생들을 대상으로 하였으며, 연구의 결과는 지속가능한 관광 교육을 통해 관광 특성화 고등학교 학생들의 지속가능한 지식, 인식, 태도 및 행동수준을 향상시킬 수 있다는 주요한 시사점을 제공한다.

Continuing efforts are being made to contribute to sustainable development in the tourism industry, and numerous researchers have emphasized the significance of education. However, the number of studies on sustainable tourism education was extremely limited, and the primary research subjects were limited to university tourism majors. This study examined the dimensions of perception, knowledge, attitude, and behavioral intention for sustainable tourism among tourism-specialized high school students, who can be considered the future leaders of the tourism industry, in order to overcome this limitation. In addition, three types of educational materials, including handouts, card news, and videos, were provided to students using a scenario-based design, and the response results of each group were compared to determine the efficacy of each type of educational material provision. Consequently, education improved the overall level of perception, knowledge, attitude, and behavioral intentions; however, there was no significant relationship between the effectiveness of each group's education and any of the variables measured. This study targeted tourism-specialized high school students, which had never been done before in the context of sustainable tourism education, and the results of this study have both theoretical and practical implications for sustainable tourism education.
