Testing an Integrated Model: Focused on Residents’ Supports for Tourism Development

A research on determinants affecting residents’ attitudes of concerned tourism development is said changing from mono factor to multi factors hypotheses including community attachment, ecocentirc attitudes and so on. The purpose of this study is to test an integrated model dealing with antecedents and consequences of residents' support for tourism development. The model was tested using data obtained from 348 residents in four cities(Guns) of Southern Gangwon Do. The model and hypotheses were tested with AMOS 4.0. Results revealed that residents' perceptions on local economic conditions, perceived benefits, and perceived costs were significant antecedents of their support for tourism development and that their support had significant influence on their change acceptability and social distance.
