A Study on the Lubrication Characteristics of Refrigerant Compressor for Air Conditioning

Recently, with the rapid demand and popularity of Refrigerating and Air-conditioning system(R&A system) in most part of industries. the study on development of the key technology to manufacture this R&A system is became inevitable than ever. Especially the refrigerant compressor is the most important mechanical component deciding R&A system's performance. So that reason, to keep up with the demand of high efficiency. long life the time, and orientation to CFC alternative refrigerant, the driving condition of compressor is becoming more severe and the various sliding part of compressor have a high temperature and high speed, the lubricate condition must be clarified. The most distinguished characteristics in the sliding parts are lubricated by oil-refrigerant mixture. In order to measure the friction force between the shaft and bearing, we designed and made the experimental apparatus applied the hydrostatic journal bearing system. When the bearing load is acting on the hydrostatic cylinder inserted into the hydrostatic journal bearing it is transferred to the load cell through the connecting rod. The signals converted to A/D converter and then computed to the friction force in the personal computer. in the paper, we obtained the results as following. 1) As the oil viscosity is decreased, the friction force and energy loss is increased. 2) Between the shaft and sub-bearing the friction force of the refrigerant R410a is bigger than of R22. 3) The fiction force and energy loss is increased. as the discharge pressure and shaft diameter is bigger.
