A Study on the Production Design of <Avatar>

This study suppose as preceding study for production design of<Avatar>. Therefore, this study has been tried to find out the space metamorphosed into the change of dominant discourse. James Cameron, director of <Avatar>, has been creating new wave of special effects was shown in his original works such as <The Terminator>, <Alien>, <the Abyss>, <Titanic> and so on. Especially, this film applied the newest special effect, emotion capture which is the state-of-art technology. <Avatar> shows not only special effects but also how to use the production design. In particular, 'Pandora planet', 'Home Tree' or 'Tree of Souls' are represented the main theme of film.
