A Study on the Perception of School Welfare in Korea Polytechnic Professors

This study is to investigate and analyze the perception of application and necessity of school welfare for vocational competency improvement. 60 professors who charge on vocational education and training in Korea Polytechnic are subjected to the research and the research project is designed as follows. How do the professors perceive introducing school welfare? what is their perspective regarding the necessity of the school welfare? As a result of the survey, First, most of the professors recognized that it is necessary and school welfare can be established. Also, they hope for the introduction of school welfare to be in the near future but lack of institutional framework and short budget were recognized as obstacles. Second, the professors considered the interest of society and the support from government on vocational education and training as the most important factors. They believed the schools need to provide job aptitude test and individual consulting, and adoption of school welfare program should be prioritized. Based on what the research suggests, it is necessary to conduct a survey targeting students on vocational education training to investigate their perception on needs and induction of school welfare. With this process, integrated and in-depth research needs to be done to find more efficient way to train professionalists who will contribute towards future welfare society.
