안전 주제 중심 STEAM 프로그램 개발 및 적용

Development and Application of STEAM Program Focused on Safety Topics

안전교육은 실생활과 밀접한 관련을 가지고 있으며 여러 교과에 걸친 다양한 지식을 필요로 한다. 이에 본 연구는 안전교육을 실생활에서의 문제해결력을 높이기 위한 STEAM 교육에 접목하여 안전 주제 중심 STEAM 프로그램을 개발하였다. 프로그램은 물놀이 안전, 화재 안전, 교통 안전, 지진 안전, 구조 요청의 5가지 주제를포함하고 있다. 각각의 주제는 과학 교과를 중심으로 수학, 미술, 체육 교과가 연계되어 있으며, 상황제시, 창의적 설계, 감성적 체험에 대한 내용이 포함되어 있다. 4∼6학년 학생을 대상으로 5종의 안전 주제 중심 STEAM 프로그램을 각각 적용한 결과, STEAM 수업에 대한 만족도에서 평균 4점 이상으로 나타났다. 또한, 학생 및 교사들의면담에서도 안전 지식, 안전 의식, 안전 문제 해결 실천 측면에서 본 프로그램을 적용한 수업에 대한 긍정적인 인식을 확인할 수 있었다.

Safety education is closely related to real life and requires a variety of knowledge across various subjects. Therefore, this study developed a safety topic-centered STEAM program by combining safety education with STEAM education to improve problem solving ability in real life. The program includes five themes: water safety, fire safety, traffic safety, earthquake safety, and rescue calls. Each topic was designed to include content on situational presentation, creative design, and emotional experience, with mathematics, art, and physical education being linked with the science subject as the center. As a result of applying each of the five safety-themed STEAM programs to 4th-6th grade students, the average score of satisfaction with the STEAM class was 4 or higher. In addition, in the interviews with students and teachers, it was confirmed that there was a positive perception of the class to which this program was applied in terms of safety knowledge, safety awareness, and safety problem solving practices.
