The purpose of this study is to find out how general public perceive the value of ocean healing, hence to use it as a base study for the promotion of ocean healing industry in Jeju Island. To this end, targeting adults who is living in Seoul metropolitan area and had experience of visiting the seas of Jeju in the past, this study measured the preference for seas of Jeju Island and the perception on the value of thalassotherapy according to demographic and sociological characteristics and proved a causal relationship between them. The results of the study demonstrates that, first, there was a significant difference in the perception of the value of ocean healing according to age. Second, there was a significant difference in the perception of the value of ocean healing according to gender. However, there was no difference according to marriage, children, occupation, education, or income. Third, it was found that the preference of seas of Jeju has a significant effect on the perception of the value of ocean healing. This means that the more you prefer the ocean of Jeju, the more you put value on ocean healing, such as the value of marine resources, the value of marine resource elements, and the value of ocean healing. Therefore, in order to ensure the success of the Jeju ocean healing industry, research on the factors favoring the seas of Jeju and the development of a scale or criteria that can sustainably maintain and preserve such factors should be preceded.
