제3장 茶山 丁若鏞의 性嗜好說에 있어서 性善的矛盾

Contradiction that Human Nature Is Fundamentally Good in the Theory that Human Nature Is Favorite(嗜好) in Dasan(茶山) Jeong Yak Young(丁若鏞)

茶山은 性은 마음의 嗜好하는 바이다는 性嗜好說을 주장하면서 인간이 태생적으로 가지게 되는 하나의 ‘性向’을 ‘嗜好’라고 하여 人性을 動態的인 可變性의 존재로 파악하고 있다. 즉, 人性이 善惡을 띠는 것은 하나의 嗜好, 즉 傾向性일 뿐 人性자체가 仁義禮智의 작용을 반드시 수반하는 것은 아니라는 것이다. 그러므로 茶山의 性嗜好說은 기존의 人性論과는 근본적으로 그 대상과 관점을 달리하는 독창적인 人性論이다. 특히 그의 人性論은 인간이 自主的選擇權을 가진 존재이므로 마음을 어떻게 가지느냐에 따라 善할 수도 있고 惡할 수도 있다고 人性을 파악하였다. 그러나 茶山도 역시 孟子가 대상으로 한 當爲的·社會的존재로서의 인간이 性善이다는 논리와 그 궤를 같이 한다고 할 수 있다. 이는 곧 性善이 아니라고 하면서 性善이 내재한다는 논리에 귀착되기 때문에 이를 ‘性善的矛盾’이라고 할 수 있다.

Dasan argued the theory that the human nature is Favorite (嗜好); Seong(性) is Favorite of mind, and said that inherent ‘propensity’ is ‘favorite’ in human, he get at the human nature which is the presence of the variability and dynamics. In other words, the human nature is only a sort of Favorite or propensity with a good and evil, it is not necessarily entail human nature itself to action of generosity(仁) Justice(義) Courtesy(禮) wisdom(智). Therefore, his theory that human nature is Favorite is fundamentally unique human nature theory that distinguished between its theory in the target and the point of view. In particular, as his human nature theory is human get at with independently options, his human nature theory get at which humans can be done a good or evil by the mind. However, said that the theory that human nature is Favorite in Dasan is not human nature is fundamentally good, because it resulted to be logic that it implied human nature is fundamentally good, it can be described as contradiction of the theory that human nature is fundamentally good.
