A Critical Analysis of Lee Myung-bak Administration's Green Growth Policy: A Focus on the Green Tourism Policy

Although there is an affirmative opinion on Lee Myung-bak administration's Green Growth vision, negative views also exist. Focused on the green tourism policy, this study examines Green Growth policy from a critical perspective. A content analysis of the government documents on the Green Tourism is conducted to analyze the policy. Results of the analysis shows that the current Green Tourism policy fails to suggest a clear conceptual definition of it. Secondly, due to the first problem, the boundary and contents of Green Tourism policy are also not clear. Finally, Green Tourism may contradict with the concept of sustainable tourism. This study suggests to make a clear definition and restructuring of the green tourism policy for a success of Green Tourism with distinction.
