This study investigates the English gratitude strategies for Korean college students in six situations. The participants were 65 college students. The DCT was presented with two groups of participants. The results showed that the main strategies were “thanking,” “appreciation,” and “recognition of imposition,” while other strategies were rarely used among six situations. On the other hand, the strategies were used differently depending on the groups. That is, in the speaker and hearer equal situation, the tourism class preferred to use the strategy of “recognition of imposition” to the class of TOEIC. In the unclear relationship between the speaker and hearer, the TOEIC class had difficulty in the use of “recognition of imposition” and “repayment”. Furthermore, in the hearer dominant and socially remote situations, the difference between the two classes did not significantly show. This results may apply to the English class for various strategies of gratitude.
