A Study on Smart Interior by Smart Technology Convergence

Smart interior is a new industry that combines high-tech IT technology and interior. Therefore, IT-based companies and interior-specialized companies should collaborate to create a new convergence business model, and continuous research on related fields should be conducted in parallel. This study aimed to understand the smart interior field, including the smart home area, understand the smart technology status of interior components, and encourage the activation of convergence research between smart technology and interior to present future research directions. The suggestions in this study are as follows First, since the smart interior field is a convergence area where information and communication technology and interior fields are combined, it is time to actively exchange technologies and study convergence approaches between fields. Second, starting with smart homes, the pace of development is accelerating as the demand for expanded smart spaces such as smart hotels, smart offices, and smart hospitals gradually increases. Third, since the introduction of smart technology is indispensable in interior design in the future, active technology grafting attempts are required, and in particular, active discussion on infrastructure design and movement plan for robot activities for robot services is needed. Fourth, interior components are being developed in various ways as smart items that revive various needs of users by being combined with smart technology, so smart interior plans should be sought in consideration of them.
