교과서 분석 기반 초등 교육용 어휘 선정 연구

Development of Vocabulary for Elementary Education Based on Textbook Analysis

목적: 본 연구는 초등 교육용 교과서 수록 어휘를 토대로 하여 교육 과정 개정 및 개발, 교과서 편찬, 교과용 도서 개발 등에 직접적으로 활용할 수 있는 초등 교육용 어휘 목록을 선정하고 등급화하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 방법: 2015 개정 교육과정, 2007 개정 교육과정, 7차 교육과정 교과서의 전학년, 전과목 교과서로 구성한 교과서 말뭉치를 분석하여 초등 교육용 어휘 21213개를 선정하였다. 초등 교육에 효과적으로 활용할 수 있도록 각 어휘에 교과군별, 학년군별, 수준별 등급화 정보를 부여하였다. 교과군별 정보는 최다 출현 교과를 기준으로 ‘국어, 사회·도덕, 수학, 과학·실과, 예술·체육, 통합, 안전’의 6개 교과군으로 나누고, 학년군별 등급화는 최초 출현 교과를 기준으로 ‘1~2학년군, 3~4학년군, 5~6학년군’의 3개 학년군으로 나누었다. 수준별 등급화 정보는 정량적 분류와 정성적 평정을 절충하여 ‘상, 중, 하’의 3개 수준으로 등급화한다. 결과: 교과군별, 학년군별, 수준별 등급화 결과에 따른 어휘 분포를 제시하고 그 특성을 설명하였다. 결론: 교육용 어휘 목록은 교육 과정 개정 및 교과서 편찬 등에 활용할 수 있을 뿐 아니라 해당 연구 방법론을 중등 교육용 어휘 개발 등으로 확장하여 적용해 볼 수 있다는 점에서 의의를 지닌다.

Purpose: This study aims to select and grade a vocabulary list for elementary education that can be directly used for curriculum revision and development, textbook compilation, and textbook development based on vocabulary contained in elementary education textbooks. Methods: 21,213 words for elementary education were selected by analyzing the textbook corpus composed of the 2015 revised curriculum, 2007 revised curriculum, 7th curriculum textbooks. In order to be effectively used in elementary education, each vocabulary is assigned with rating information by subject group, grade group, and level. Information by subject group is divided into six subject groups based on the most frequently emerging subjects, “Korean, Social, Moral, Mathematics, Science, Practical Arts, Art, Physical Education, Integration, and Safety,” and three grade groups based on the first appearing subjects. Classification information by level is graded into three levels: ‘upper, middle, and lower’ by compromising the quantitative method and qualitative evaluation. Results: The vocabulary distribution according to the results of grading by subject group, grade group, and level is presented and its characteristics are explained. Conclusion: The list of educational vocabulary is meaningful in that it can be used not only for curriculum revision and textbook compilation, but also for expanding and applying the research methodology to secondary education vocabulary development.
