목적: 이 논문의 목적은 듀오링고 한국어 강좌에 대한 이용자들의 인식을 살펴보고 그들의 인식에 영향을 미칠 수 있는 다양한 요소들을 살펴보는 것이다. 방법: 연구의 목적을 달성하기 위하여 설문지를 활용하여 듀오링고에서 한국어를 배우는 성인들을 대상으로 그들의 자발적인 참여하에 자료를 수집하였다. 한편 개방형 질문을 실시하여 통계적으로 얻은 결과를 질적인 분석 결과로서 보완하고자 하였다. 결과: 본 연구의 결과 연구자들은 본 연구의 참여자들이 다른 영역에 비하여 더 긍정적으로 보고하는 몇 개의 영역이 있음을 알아내었다. 즉 여성 참여자는 듀오링고의 코스 설계의 영역에 더 긍정적으로 반응한 반면에, 남성 참여자는 사용성에 더 긍정적으로 반응을 하였다. 마찬가지로, 연구 참여자들의 한국어 학습의 기간과 그리고 그들이 듀오링고 코스에 접근하는 데 사용되는 기기가 코스에 대한 그들의 반응에 영향을 미치는 것으로 파악되었다. 결론: 이러한 연구의 결과는, 몇 가지 제한점이 있음에도 불구하고, 듀오링고 한국어 강좌가 몇 개의 영역을 개선하면 사용자들의 성공적인 한국어 학습을 이끌어내는 도구가 될 수 있으며, 외국에 거주하는 한국어 학습자들에게 더 많은 교육의 기회를 제공하는 수단이 될 수 있음을 시사한다. 또한 한국어 교육자들에게는 웹을 활용한 교육시스템의 효과적인 설계와 활용에 관심을 더 많이 기울여야 함을 말해 준다.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to explore Korean language learners' perception on the Duolingo Korean courses in terms of its usability, content, engagement, and course design. Method: The study utilized an open-ended questionnaire to gather and analyze the data collected from 47 Duolingo Free users. Results: There were a few domains, in which the participants reported more positively. Respectively, Findings show that female participants responded more positively to questions regarding course design, while male participants responded more positively to usability. Similarly, duration of study and the device used to access the course seem to also have influence with respect to participants' responses. Conclusion: Duolingo Korean course can be an effective and efficient tool for Korean learners when its design is improved.
