A Case Study on Basic Literacy Education Based on Whole Language Approach

목적: 이 연구는 초등학교 1학년 학생들을 대상으로 총체적 언어 접근에 기반한 기초 문식성 지도 방법을 모색하는 것이다. 방법: 이 연구를 수행하기 위하여 총체적 언어 접근과 프레네 교육의 의미를 탐색하고, 지도 사례를 조사하였다. 먼저, 세종시 초등학교 1학년을 담임하고 있거나 담임한 경험이 있는 교사들을 대상으로 기초 문식성 지도 방법에 대해 면담하였다. 그리고 해당 사례를 찾아 교사와 심층면담하고 1년간의 교육 자료를 분석하였다. 결과: 그 결과 총체적 언어 접근에 기반한 기초 문식성 지도 방법은 발표 방법 익히기, 경험 이야기 나누기, 글로 쓰기, 따라 쓰기, 질문하기, 고쳐 쓰기, 출판하기 과정으로 진행되었다. 총체적 언어 접근에 기반한 기초 문식성 지도는 학생들의 경험을 활용하여, 통합적으로 지도하며, 1년 동안의 프로그램으로 운영되었다. 결론: 총체적 언어 접근에 기반한 기초 문식성 지도는 초등학교 1학년 발달 단계에 적합하고, 학생들의 기초 문식성 지도에 효과적이다. 따라서 학생들의 경험을 기초 문식성 지도 내용으로 구성하고, 통합적으로 지도하며, 초등학교 1학년의 교육과정을 재구성하는 것이 필요하다.

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to explore the basic literacy education Methods based on Whole Language Approach for First-grade Elementary School students. Methods: Therefore I examined Whole Language Approach and the meaning of Freinet’s Education. I investigated educational cases perspective of Whole Language Approach. I Interviewed with first grade teachers and experienced teachers about the basic literacy instruction methods. In-depth interviews were conducted I had an in-depth interview with the teacher to find the case and analyzed educational data for one year. Results: As a result, Basic literacy education method based on whole language approach proceeded in sequence That is Learning how to present, sharing personal narrative, writing, writing along, asking, rewriting and publishing. It was operated as a one-year program with integrated guidance by utilizing the experiences of the students. Conclusion: Basic literacy education based on whole language approach is suitable for the first grade development stage of elementary school and is effective for basic literacy education of students. Therefore, it is necessary to organize the experiences of students into basic literacy instruction content, to guide them in an integrated way, and to reorganize the curriculum of the first grade of elementary school.
