목적 : 백석의 동화시와 그가 번역한 마르샤크의 동화시를 ‘웃음’의 미학을 중심으로 탐색하였다. 방법 : 백석이 쓴 평문에 드러나는 ‘웃음’의 미학이 뜻하는 바를 분석하여 정리하였다. 그것을 바탕으로 백석의 동화시와 마르샤크의 동화시를 비교하면서 웃음의 미학이 구현된 양상을 살펴보았다. 결과 : 백석과 마르샤크가 주장한 아동문학의 본질로서 ‘웃음’은 단순히 풍자문학만을 뜻하는 것이 아님을 확인하였다. 그들이 말하는 ‘웃음’이 의미하는 바는 유희적 말놀이와 셈세기와 장난 등을 통한 아동 인식의 즐거움과 희열을 뜻한다. 그들의 동화시는 이러한 웃음의 구체적 실현체로서 거의 유사한 형태를 보였다. 다만 백석이 마르샤크보다 동물우화시 속에 웃음으로 감싼 교훈을 담았으며 마르샤크의 동화시는 사회주의의 현대 개혁적 건설과 관련한 작품이 더 많았다는 차이가 있다. 결론: 백석의 동화시에는 그가 주장한 웃음의 다양한 구현체가 실현되어 있었고 이는 마르샤크 동화시에 구현된 웃음과 크게 다르지 않다.
Purpose : The purpose of this study is to search the meanings of the aesthetics of laughter comparing Baek Seok’s fairy tale poems with that of Marshak’s. Methods : The method of this study is to analyze the aesthetics of laughter in Baek Seok’s narratives and to compare Baek Seok’s fairy tale poems with that of Marshak’s. Results : The results of this study is that the meanings of Baek Seok’s and Marshak’s fairy tale poems were the pleasure and joy of cognition in children. But in Baek Seok’s fairy tale poems there were more animal allegorical poems than that of Marshak’s. And there were more modern socialist construction poems in Marshak’s works than that of Baek Seok’s. Conclusion : The conclusion of this study is that in Baek Seok’s fairy tale poems the aesthetics of laughter was realized and that it was not different from that of Marshak’s.
