An Approach for Student Participatory Software Convergence Education by Reorganizing the Theme-oriented Curriculum of Practical Arts Subject

This study was carried out to develop a topic-oriented software convergence education program composed of units within practical and subject areas. To this end, the 10th convergence education program was developed for preservice teachers, focusing on the ‘creative product making’ and ‘software and life’ units. The results of this study are as follows. First, it was possible to develop a convergence education program with topics including coding and sewing activities on the FLORA board. Second, the proposed program was found to have a positive effect on the change of interest and attitude toward convergence education for preservice teachers. Third, for the convergence education program based on physical computing, the term project method preferred class. In the future, it is expected that follow-up research will be conducted not only on the program for pre-service teachers, but also on the curriculum, teaching and learning materials, and educational programs for subject-centered units within the practical curriculum for elementary school students.
