본 연구는 한국어에서 ‘가능성’을 나타내는 표현 문형들에 대하여 그 특성을 규명하여 한국어 문법 교육을 위한 내용학 연구에 기여하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 한국어에서 ‘가능성’을 나타내는 문형은 그 수도 적지 않고 대부분의 교재에 제시되고 있으므로 문형들 간의 변별을 위한 내용 구축이 필수적이지만 그간 가능성 표현에 대한 연구는 본격적으로 이루어지지 못하였다는 데 이 연구의 필요성이 있다. 이 연구의 대상이 되는 가능성 표현 문형들은 5종 한국어 교재의 1급에서 6급까지의 교수요목에 제시된 문형들을 살펴 귀납적으로 도출하였다. 본 연구에서는 이들 문형에 대한 말뭉치 용례 관찰을 기반으로 하여 각 문형의 의미·기능적, 문법적, 담화적 특징을 변별적으로 밝혔다. 이와 같은 연구 내용은 이들 문형에 대한 문법 교수의 구체적 내용으로 현장 교수자들에게 유용한 참고 자료가 될 수 있을 것이다.
The purpose of this study was to figure out the characteristics of Korean grammatical patterns which express the meaning of ‘possibility’, and provide the useful contents for Korean grammar education. A lot of grammatical patterns which express possibility have been suggested as educational units in Korean educational materials, and it is not easy to distinguish one from the others. In order to accomplish the purpose above, (1) a list of the possibility expression patterns was made from five different syllabuses of Korean textbooks for foreign students, (2) the semantic, grammatical, and discourse characteristics of each pattern were suggested based on the observation of some examples from a corpus. Finally, this study provided comparative descriptions to make the contents useful for the grammar teachers to notice the differences and teach them more distinctively.
