수리와 천문으로 읽는 천부경

The Sutra of Heavenly Code from the Perception of our Ancestors on Celestial Objects and Numbers: Its implications for modern civilization

이 글은 고대의 우리 선조들이 하늘과 세계에 대해 어떻게 인식했을까를 화두로 삼아 천부경을 읽고 그것이 현대 문명에 주는 함의가 무엇일까를 연구한 것이다. 천부경이 세상에 나온 지는 100년 밖에 되지 않고 위서 시비가 있었다. 그러나 그 내용이 우리 민족의 사상적 근원으로 보기에 충분하여 민족의 정신세계를 대표하는 경전으로 애독되고 많은 연구가 축적되었다. 본론은 이러한 배경 아래 천부경이 탄생할 당시 우리 조상들은 삼라만상과 우주에 대해 우선 감탄과 경외의 감정을 가졌을 것이며 이를 수리와 천문 그리고 자신의 내적 각성과 결합하여 천부경 81자로 표현했을 것으로 가정하고 있다. 이는 배달민족 만이 아니라 고대인들이 비슷했을 것이다. 본론은 먼저 동서양에서 고대인들의 수와 천문에 관한 인식을 살펴보았다. 동서양을 막론하고 고대인들은 공통으로 거기서 질서를 발견하고 그것을 인간이 본받아야 할 감탄과 경외의 대상으로 보았다. 천부경이 독특한 점은 우주 창조와 운행을 천지인 삼재가 함께하는 신인 합일의 공동작업으로 보았다는 점이다. 그들은 거기서 조화와 질서 그리고 사랑의 원리를 발견하고 이를 인간사회에 실현하려고 했다. 천부경은 현대인에게 기계론적 과학주의로 파괴된 자연에 대한 경외심을 회복하고 자연의 질서에 따라 사는 중요성을 일깨워 주고 있다. 경험적 세계와 별도로 존재하는 예지의 세계를 건설할 것을 촉구하고 있다.

This article focuses on how our ancient ancestors perceived the heaven and the world and studies its implication for modern civilization. It has only been 100 years since the Sutra came into the world, and there has been a dispute over her authenticity. But the contents were sufficient to be regarded as the philosophical source of the Korean people, which was widely read as a scripture representing the spiritual world of the Korean people and accumulated a lot of research. The main theory assumes that while studying the sutra under this background, our ancestors must have had first admiration and awe for the world and the universe, combined with logic of numbers, astronomy, and their inner awakening to express the horoscope in 81 characters. This would have been similar to the ancient people, not just the ancient Korean people. They found order there and saw it as an object of admiration and awe that humans should emulate. The Sutra was also regarded as similar. What is unique about the Sutra is that it viewed space creation and operation as a collaboration among heavenly God, Earth, and Man. There they discovered the principles of harmony, order, and love, and tried to realize them in human society. The Sutra reminds modern people of the importance of restoring their reverence for nature and living according to the order of nature.
