한국의 다문화교육에 관한 연구

A Study on Multicultural Education in Moral Subject

최근 한국 사회는 빠른 속도로 다문화 사회로 들어서고 있다. 이러한 사회적 변화는 본격적으로 ‘다문화’에 관한 논의의 비약적인 증대와 더불어 다문화에 대한 올바른 이해의 필요성과 그러한 가치의 바람직한 실현 등 우리 사회가 맞이한 새로운 환경과 그러한 환경 속에서 해결해야 할 어려운 교육적 과제들을 던져 주고 있다. 이에 따라 이제 사회 전반에 걸쳐 본격적으로 다문화교육의 필요성과 그 중요성이 적극 부각되고 있다. 그렇다면 다문화교육이란 무엇인가? 간단히 말해, 다문화교육은 인종 뿐만 아니라 다양한 문화 집단에 속해 있는 서른 다른 사람들의 상호 이해와 평등 관계를 중시한다. 또한 민족, 사회적 지위, 성별, 종교, 이념 등과 같이 서로 다른 집단의 문화를 동등한 가치로 인식하며, 특히 학생들에게는 자신이 속해 있지 않은 다른 문화에 대한 편견을 줄이고 다양한 문화를 올바로 이해시키기 위한 지식, 태도, 가치교육을 제공한다. 이러한 다문화교육의 핵심 가치들을 유념해 볼때, 다문화 사회로 들어선 한국은 안정적인 국가발전을 위해 다문화교육을 적극 실천해야 할 것이다. 이와 관련하여 비록 제한적이긴 하지만 이미 학교교육에서는 다양한 교과에서 다문화교육과 이에 관련한 연구들이 수행중이거나 시도되고 있다. 하지만 아쉽게도 도덕교과에서는 다문화교육적 접근과 관련한 연구나 시도들이 매우 부족한 실정이다. 이에 본 연구는 한국의 다문화교육의 방향을 살펴보고, 학교 교육의 여러 교과들 중 특히 도덕교과에 대한 다문화교육적 접근을 통해 그 의미와 적용 가능성을 탐색해 보았다.

Multicultural moral education is one of the recent instructive effort to find a way how moral classes can reach their goals. Genarally speaking, Multicultural education has practiced around western society. And also Multicultural education may be defined as an educational reform movement which holds that all students should be treatrd equally and given equal opportunities for learning and cultivating their abilities regardless of their social or cultural background. It teaches respect for others and tolerance of the differences that exist among people. It also teaches students to treat others without bias. Most recently Korea society was made rapid change and called upon a new educational attempt. Multicultural society expects creative persons who understand and respect various types of people with open mind and establish the infrastructure cooperation through interaction with them. The objective of multicultural education is to prepare knowledge, attitude and skills for korean people to understand and respect people of different race, gender, lanquage, class, etc. With this in view, this study attempts to show that Multicultural education has considerable value and meaning in education of korea. This study place the focus on three point. Firstly, discussion of development direction of multicultural education in Korea secondly, discussion of applicable possibility of multicultural educational approach in moral subject the third, discussion of an attempt of multicultural educational approach in unification education. In process of study go on, value of multicultural education approach in place the focus on these three point make clear. This approach might be useful methods to reduce the cultural shock related to the change of circumstances Korea society and to develop cultural maturity of the people
