A Study on Development of a Curriculum of Mechanical Design Education for the Industry Environment Post to COVID-19 Based on Industrial Survey

A questionnaire study was carried out in this paper to develop a curriculum for mechanical design specialization at Korea Polytechnics. The questionnaire includes perspective on machine or mechanical design industries and on needs for human resources in these industries post to Covid-19. It also contains national competency standards(NCSs) for the field. The goal of education in the mechanical design was defined based on the questionnaire study. Also a curriculum was developed from the study. The goal was ‘A graduate student of mechanical design specialization is able to design a machine based on mechanical strength and stiffness, to implement the design with a computer software, and to make a technical explanation.’ NCS competency units were chosen based on the study and connnected with the curriculum for each subject.
