This research explored the effectiveness of audiovisual translation technologies and fansub effects for target language improvement on college students. In terms of what matters to improve their language competence, this research collected data and analysis elicited from questionnaires and in-person interviews. The findings showed that digital native learners have a strong preference to improve their target language competence through integrated audiovisual courses with screenplay translations and hands-on mobile devices. Another finding was that their writing skills improved in terms of simplicity and clarity. This may be a result of influence of the screenplay translation strategy. Another finding was that their internal motivation was boosted to want more exposure to target language learning. This informs that the effect of fansub activities ignite internal motivation. A college fansub translation course can be another approach that could meet the cognitive effects of rising student costs in college.
