상담전공 석사과정 경험에 대한 단일사례연구: 과학자-실무자 모델의 적용

A Single Case Study on Experiences in Counseling Masters’ Program: Applying the Scientist-Practitioner Model

연구목적: 본 연구의 목적은 대학원생의 상담전공 석사과정 경험을 과학자-실무자 모델의 관점에서 이해하는 것이다. 연구방법: 이를 위해 과학자-실무자 모델을 교육철학으로 명시한 대학원에서 석사 학위를 취득한 연구참여자 한 명을 면접하였다. 면접 자료는 이론지향적 단일사례연구방법(Duk & Hak, 2008)으로 분석되었다. 연구결과: 연구참여자의 경험에서 다음의 다섯 가지주제가 도출되었다. 연구참여자는 전문가가 되기 위해서 대학원에 입학하였다. 대학원에서 수강한 과목들은 과학자-실무자 역량 획득에 균형이 맞추어져 있었다. 연구참여자는 연구 활동을 통해 연구 보고서 작성 능력과 동료들의 협동 작업 역량을 획득하였다. 상담 실습을 통해 연구참여자는 전문 실무자가 되고자 하는 포부를 가지게 되었고, 실무자로서의 정체성을 형성하였다. 졸업 후 연구참여자는 Wee 클래스에 상담 실무자로 취업하였다. 논의 및 결론: 연구 결과에 근거하여 과학자-실무자 모델의 적용 가능성, 과학자-실무자 정체성, 상담전공 석사과정 발전을 위한 제언을 논의하였고, 후속연구를 제안하였다.

Purpose: This study aimed to understand the experiences of a graduate student in a counseling masters’ program based on the scientist-practitioner model. Method: One participant, who graduated from the masters’ program presenting the scientist-practitioner model as their philosophy, was interviewed. The interview data were analyzed by the theory-oriented single case study method(Duk & Hak, 2008). Results: The participant’s experiences were summarized by five themes. She entered graduate school to become a professional. The courses she took were balanced with the scientist-practitioner focuses. Participating research team brought to her competencies in report writing and cooperating with colleagues. The clinical practicum inspired the participant to aspire to be a professional practitioner and made her construct the practitioner identity. She got a job at the Wee class as a practitioner after graduation. Discussion & Conclusion: The discussion addressed the applicability of the scientist-practitioner model to counseling masters’ programs, the process of scientist-practitioner identity development, and suggestions to improve masters’ program, as well as future research suggestions.
